If you are not a UK resident for tax purposes, you may be eligible to register as a non-UK tax resident. This means that you will not be subject to UK tax on your overseas income and gains.

To register as a non-UK tax resident, you will need to complete form P85 and submit it to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Form P85 is used to provide information about your overseas income and gains, as well as your UK income and gains.

To complete form P85, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Your personal details, including your name, address, and contact information
  • Your UK and overseas income and gains, including any salary, pension, investment income, and property income
  • Your UK tax code, if applicable
  • Details of any UK bank accounts or building society accounts you have
  • Details of any UK property you own, including the value and address of the property
  • Details of any UK tax you have paid, such as income tax or capital gains tax

Once you have completed form P85, you will need to submit it to HMRC. You can do this by post or online, using the HMRC online service.

After you have submitted form P85, HMRC will review your application and determine whether you are eligible to register as a non-UK tax resident. If you are eligible, HMRC will send you a letter confirming your non-UK tax resident status.
